About us

The Cooma Rodeo has been a long standing and well-loved event on the social calendar of the Monaro. Started over 100 years ago, possibly as a bet between two station workers, the Rodeo has grown into one of the most respected and entertaining rodeos under the banner of the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA).

The committee behind the Cooma Rodeo is a group of hard working individuals who aim to ensure the spectators and competitors alike are given every opportunity.

One of the main aims of the Cooma Committee is to build a permanent equestrian arena in Cooma, for the entire district to use and enjoy. To help achieve this goal, in 2009 the Cooma Rodeo and Adaminaby Campdraft Committee’s combined to run the A & C Fun Day, to raise funds to build the arena. Hugely successful, the Fun Day has now become an annual event.

The Cooma Rodeo also has a strong community emphasis and is keen to give back. In recent years The Cooma Rodeo Committee has supported the following organisations by either donation or by providing a site at the event; Cooma Lions Club, Adaminaby Playgroup, Adaminaby Pony Club, Cooma Dance Co, Cooma Stallions Junior Rugby League, Cooma Pony Club, Snowy Mountains Western Riders, Nimmitabel SES and Monaro Community Cancer Research
