How do I get there?

Cooma is at the gateway to the Snowy Mountains.  Located just over an hour from Canberra and just 4 hours south east of Sydney, Cooma is easy to get to.  For a map of how to reach Cooma, click on this link.

Where is the Cooma Rodeo held?

The Rodeo is held on the Cooma Showground, right in town. For a map click the Getting there link.

What will the weather be like?

At this time of year it is usually hot during the day and cool in the evenings. Remember though, Cooma is in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, so the weather can be unpredictable at any time of year.  Pack a jumper, just in case. Also remember to bring a hat to shield yourself from the sun.  Average temperatures for this time of year are shown below:

What time does the rodeo start?

Generally about lunchtime. For a more exact start time check the draw on the ABCRA website www.abcra.com.au

What time does the rodeo finish?

The rodeo finishes when the last cowboy rides — usually about 9—9.15pm.

What time is the bull ride on?

The bullride is held over several draws during the day.  For more specific times, check the ABCRA website www.abcra.com.au

What is gate admission price?

Admission for Adults is $15 and children under 12 years $5

Is there food available?

Yes, a variety of food vendors will be offering everything from brewed coffee to steak sandwiches and dagwood dogs.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes, but not alcoholic drinks. Your esky will be checked to ensure you are not bringing any alcohol into the Showground.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

No. Due to strict licensing laws, only alcohol purchased at the bar can be consumed on the Showground.

Do I need to bring seating?

The Cooma Showground offers spectators seating on the Grandstand (which is undercover) and on the hill overlooking the arena. If you want to get close to the action and sit near the arena fence.  Bring a chair!

Is there a charge for camping?

No, not over rodeo weekend. For other times please contact Cooma Monaro Shire Council.

Are there toilets and showers?

Yes.  Both toilets and showers are available free of charge.

Is there public transport in Cooma?

No, but there are taxis. The Showground is within walking distance of the town centre and most accommodation within the town.

Entry in rodeo events is through the ABCRA Central Entry only.  For information select How to Enter.
